4.4 G. of 4-(4-n-heptylpyrimid-2-yl)benzoic acid ethyl ester dissolved in 50 ml. of methanol/dichloromethane (1:1) are treated with 30 ml. of liquid ammonia in a laboratory autoclave and the mixture is then warmed for 5 hours to 90° C. (pressure: 16 atmospheres absolute). The mixture is evaporated to dryness and the sparingly soluble amide is separated from unreacted educt, whereby 4-(4-n-heptylpyrimid-2-yl)benzoic acid amide is obtained.
