Reaction Steps
The product of Example XI (30.1 g) was suspended in 150 ml methanol and hydrogenated using 4 g of 5% Pd on carbon. After uptake of 1 mole hydrogen, the catalyst was filtered, the solution concentrated and the residue crystallized from isopropyl alcohol to give 12.27 g (52.5%) of product, m.p. 269°-271°.
