Thereafter, 2.8 parts of metallic sodium were dissolved in 150 parts of anhydrous ethanol, and 27.4 parts of ethyl 3,3-dimethyl-4,6,6-trichloro-5-hexenoate prepared by the process described above, were added to the solution. The yield was 89%. The cis:trans ratio of the product determined by gas chromatography was 25:75.
