A suspension of 3-(1-piperazinyl)-1,2-benzisothiazole (0.44 g, 2.0 mmoles), 3-benzoyl-1-(4-bromobutyl)perhydrobenzimidazol-2-one (0.76 g, 2.0 mmoles) and potassium carbonate (0.33 g, 2.4 mmoles) in 4 ml of dimethylformamide was stirred at 60° C. for 2 hours. Insolubles were removed by filtration, and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was dissolved in chloroform and washed with water, and the solvent was evaporated. The residue was purified by chromatography on a silica gel column to give 1.0 g of the title compound as an oil.
