1.4 g (7.7 mmol) of the chloride from Example 1, Step B and 1.5 g (7.7 mmol) 4-Amino-2'-cyanobiphenyl were heated in 30 ml dry ethanol for 5 h. After removal of the solvent in vacuo the nitrile was obtained in colorless crystals from ethanol, m.p. 247°-248° C.
