Reaction Steps
A mixture of 4.5 g of Intermediate XXV, 2.36 g of 1-(2-methoxyphenyl)-piperazine and 0.84 g of potassium carbonate in 45 ml of anhydrous dimethylformamide was stirred at ambient temperature for 2.5 hours. The reaction mixture was poured into 300 ml of water and filtered under suction, washing with water. The solid base was crystallized from ethanol and had a melting point of 143°-146° C. The crystals were dissolved in 1,2-dichloroethane and acidified with ethanolic hydrogen chloride. 4.4 g of the title compound, m.p. 229°-233° C., was obtained by recrystallization from methanol:water (1:3.5).
