Reaction Steps
The intermediate 2-Chloro-1-cyclopentyl-ethanone from Step 1 (1 g, 6.81 mmol), was combined with 4-methoxy-benzenethiol (1.05 g, 7.50 mmol), in THF (20 mL) and treated with Triethylamine (1.05 mL, 7.50 mmol). The mixture was stirred for 1 hour at room temperature then poured into water (50 mL) and extracted with EtOAc (2×50 mL). The organics were then washed with 0.5N HCl (2×50 mL), 2N NaOH (2×50 mL), water (2×50 mL) and brine (1×50 mL) the organics were dried over Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated. The residue was used without further purification (1.65 g, 97%).
