A solution of [2-(2-cyclopentyl-4,6-dioxo-tetrahydro-pyran-2-yl)-ethyl]-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (1.0 g, 2.8 mmol) from Step 4 above in 10% TFA/CH2Cl2 was stirred at room temperature for 20 minutes. The reaction was concentrated by rotary evaporation and used as is without further purification.
