Reaction Steps

12.65 g of product obtained in stage 3 above in 130 ml of methanol are introduced into a round-bottomed hydrogenation flask; 500 mg of Pd/C are added and the mixture is stirred under a pressure of 1400 mbar of hydrogen for 12 hours. The mixture is filtered over clarcel and the solvent is then evaporated off. The residue is chromatographed on 600 g of silica, with 60/40 dichloromethane/ethyl acetate as eluent.
