A mixture of 662 mg (2.4 mmol) of (R/S)-5-[1-benzyloxycarbonyl-pyrrolidin-3-yl]-1H-tetrazole (from Step B) and 220 mg of 10% palladium on charcoal in 5 mL of MeOH was hydrogenated at atmospheric pressure using a balloon of hydrogen for 3 h. The reaction was filtered through a pad of Celite and concentrated to afford the title compound as a white solid: 1H-NMR (500 MHz, CD3OD) δ 2.27 (m, 1H), 2.49 (m, 1H), 3.39-3.51 (m, 3H), 3.70 (m, 1H), 3.85 (m, 1H).
