Reaction Steps
The compound of Example 214 (1.12 g) was dissolved in a mixed solvent composed of MeOH:THF=1:1 (12 mL). To this solution, a 10% aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide (4 mL) was added and the mixture was refluxed. After 20 hours, the mixture was diluted with water, and hydrochloric acid was added to make the mixture acidic. The mixture was then extracted with ethyl acetate and the extract was washed with a saturated aqueous solution of sodium chloride. The organic phase was then dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The solvent was removed to give the desired product as a yellow oil (1.09 g).
