Procedure

19.5 g (84.6 mmol) of N-(5-chloro-2-nitrophenyl)glycine were dissolved in 250 ml of ethanol and, after addition of 5 g of Raney nickel, hydrogenated under 1 bar at 45°-50° C. The mixture was then filtered, and the filtrate was evaporated under reduced pressure to yield 15.6 g (93%) of the product.
