487 mg of 4-acetyl-1-(2-pyrimidinyl)-5-methylpyrazole, 524 mg of the compound obtained in the above (1) and 3.6 ml of a 1N hydrochloric acid/ethanol solution were dissolved in 40 ml of ethanol and heated under reflux for 54 hours. During this period, 4.3 g of paraformaldehyde was added thereto in portions. After cooling, the insoluble matters were collected by filtration. Thus 630 mg of the title compound was obtained in the form of a yellow solid product.
