149.2 mg of solid D-penicillamine (Aldrich Chemical Co., Inc.) and 219.5 mg of zinc acetate dihydrate (Aldrich Chemical Co., Inc.) are dissolved in a minimum volume of doubly distilled water (~12 ml), heated to 40° C. for 45 minutes, and cooled to room temperature to form the complex Zn/penicillamine.
