By heating equimolar amounts of 3-benzyloxy-4-methoxybenzoyl chloride and 1-trimethylsilyl-2-pyrrolidinone in an oil-bath of 100° C. in analogy to the procedure described in paragraph (b) of Example 9 there is obtained 1-(3-benzoyloxy-4-methoxybenzoyl)-2-pyrrolidinone. After stirring in diethyl ether and recrystallisation from ethyl acetate/n-hexane (3:1), the substance melts at 90.5°-91° C.
