Reaction Steps

A solution of the title compound of Example 10 (4.0 g) in tetrahydrofuran (250 mL) was shaken in a Parr Hydrogenator at 38 psi hydrogen over 5% palladium on carbon for 18 hours. The catalyst was filtered from the reaction, and the solution was evaporated under vacuum. Crystallization of the residue from ethanol (3A) yielded the title compound as a yellow solid. Recrystallization of this from ethanol (3A) yielded the pure title compound as yellow crystals. Mp: 172°-179° C.
