Procedure
A mixture of 2-bromo-1-(2,6-dimethyl-4-(4-phenoxyphenoxy)phenyl)ethanone (26-3, 9.53 g, 23.2 mmol) and thiourea (1.76 g, 23.1 mmol) in 95% EtOH (33.1 mL) was heated at reflux for 60 min. The solution was concentrated and added with water (100 mL) and saturated aqueous Na2CO3 (5.0 mL). The resultant precipitate was filtered and washed with ethyl acetate. The solids were dried under vacuum to give 4-(2,6-dimethyl-4-(4-phenoxyphenoxy)phenyl)thiazol-2-amine (26-4, 9.00 g) as brown solids in 100% yield, which was used directly for the next step without further purification.
