To a solution of tert-Butyl 4-[2-(4-methyl-1-oxo-1,3-dihydro-2-benzofuran-5-yl)-2-oxoethyl]-3-oxopiperazine-1-carboxylate (160 mg, 0.41 mmol) in MeOH (10 ml) was added NaBH4 (31 mg, 0.82 mmol). The reaction was allowed to stir at RT for 2 hours. TLC showed clean conversion. The reaction was quenched by addition of water. The crude material was diluted with EtOAc, washed with water, dried over sodium sulfate, and concentrated to give the title compound. LC-MS (IE, m/z): 391 [M+1]+.
