Procedure

A mixture of 5-2 (595 mg, 1.62 mmol) and 5% Pd/C (556 mg, 0.17 mmol) in methanol (80 mL) was stirred under 1 atm H2 pressure (balloon) overnight. The mixture was then filtered through Celite and the filtrate evaporated. Purification of the residue by flash chromatography on silica gel (Isco Combiflash unit) gave the title compound (396 mg, 96%).
