Reaction Steps
A mixture of 1-(4-fluorophenyl)-4-iodo-2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyridine-3-carboxylic acid (200 mg, 0.557 mmol), SOCl2 (330 mg, 2.78 mmol) and one drop of DMF in toluene (30 mL) was refluxed for 2 h. The mixture was concentrated under vacuum to afford crude 1-(4-fluoro-phenyl)-4-iodo-2-oxo-1,2-dihydro-pyridine-3-carbonyl chloride (200 mg, 95%).
