Procedure
A solution of 4,5-Bis(4-chloro-2-methylphenyl)thiazole (170 mg, 0.51 mmol), NBS (100 mg, 0.56 mmol) and NaOAc (82 mg, 1.0 mmol) in AcOH (5 mL) and DCM (3 mL) was stirred overnight at rt, and then quenched with water (25 mL) and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic phase was dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate and then concentrated. The residue was purified by flash chromatography to afford 196 mg of product.
