A round-bottomed flask was charged with 2-benzhydryl-5-(3,5-dibromophenyl)-2H-tetrazole (282 mg, 0.60 mmol), 4-methylnaphthalen-1-ylboronic acid (251 mg, 1.32 mmol) and Pd(PPh3)4 (35 mg, 0.03 mmol). After degassed, dioxane (5 mL) and aqueous sodium carbonate (3 mL, 2M, 6.0 mmol) was added. The reaction mixture was heated to 90° C. until the reaction was complete. 30 mL of water was added, and the reaction mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic phase was dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate and then concentrated. The residue was purified by flash chromatography (hexane:CH2Cl2=2:1) to afford 0.32 g (90%) of product as a white solid.
