A round-bottom flask was charged with tert-butyl 2-(6-((perfluorophenoxy)sulfonyl)isoquinolin-1-yl)pyrrolidine-1-carboxylate (1.02 g, 1.873 mmol) and DCM (5.0 mL) to give a light yellow solution. TFA (1.443 ml, 18.73 mmol) was added in one portion to give a yellow solution. The reaction was stirred for two hours. The reaction was concentrated, dissolved in diethyl ether, and sonicated until a fine white solid triturated out of solution. The solids were filtered, washed with diethyl ether, and vacuum dried overnight to afford perfluorophenyl 1-(pyrrolidin-2-yl)isoquinoline-6-sulfonate 2,2,2-trifluoroacetate as a white solid.
