5-fluoro-4-(1-hydroxy-2-{4-[2-hydroxy-2-(4-methyl-1-oxo-1,3-dihydro-2-benzofuran-5-yl)ethyl]piperazin-1-yl}ethyl)-2-(methyloxy)benzonitrile was prepared in a similar fashion to that described for the synthesis of EXAMPLES 2C and 28-29 starting from 5-(1-hydroxy-2-piperazin-1-ylethyl)-4-methyl-2-benzofuran-1(3H)-one and 5-fluoro-2-(methyloxy)-4-oxiran-2-ylbenzonitrile.
