DAST (6.6 μL, 0.050 mmol) was added to 1-(4-nitrophenyl)-2-{4-[2-(4-nitrophenyl)ethyl]piperazin-1-yl}ethanol (10 mg, 0.025 mmol) in DCM (1 mL) and the resulting mixture was stirred at RT for 72 h. Then 1 N NaOH was added and the mixture was extracted twice with DCM. The combined organic layers were dried over MgSO4, filtered, and evaporated to dryness. The crude product was purified by mass directed preparative HPLC to yield 1-[2-fluoro-2-(4-nitrophenyl)ethyl]-4-[2-(4-nitrophenyl)ethyl]piperazine.
