To a solution of (3S,4R,5S,6S)-2-bromo-6-(4-chloro-3-(4-hydroxybenzyl)phenyl)tetrahydro-2H-pyran-3,4,5-triyl triacetate (2.02 g, 3.62 mmol) in methanol (15 mL) was added ZnO (294.5 mg, 3.62 mmol) at 60° C. The reaction mixture was stirred at 60° C. for 1 h. After completion of reaction, as confirmed by TLC, reaction mixture was passed through sintered funnel to remove the solids. The filterate was evaporated in vacuo and the residue obtained was purified by column chromatography (silica gel, 2:8 Acetone:Pet. Ether) to afford title compound (1.1 g, 65%)
