To a solution of methyl 5-(4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenyl)isoxazole-3-carboxylate (6.50 g, 22.6 mmol) in EtOH (200 mL) was added NH2NH2.H2O (80%, 7 mL, 113 mmol) and the mixture was stirred at RT for 3 h. The mixture was then concentrated under reduced pressure and purified by silica gel chromatography (Petroleum ether:EtOAc=1:2) to give the ttitle compound as a white solid (4.4 g, 67.8%). MS (ES+) C11H8F3N3O3 requires: 287. found: 288 [M+H]+.
