To a solution of 6-bromo-3-methyl-2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-indole-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester (200 mg, 0.7 mmol) in toluene under N2 were added Fe3(CO12) (14 mg, 0.028 mmol) and PhSiH3 (33 μL) and the mixture was stirred at 100° C. for 16 h. The resulting mixture was filtered through Celite (wash with EtOAc). The solvent was removed in vacuo to give the title compound (70 mg) as a colourless gum. MS: [M+H]+=270.
