Reaction Steps
To a degassed solution of LiBr (165 mg, 1.9 mmol) and (1,3-diisopropylimidazol-2-ylidene)(3-chloropyridyl)palladium (II) dichloride (8 mg, 0.012 mmol) in NMP (3 mL) under N2 were added a solution of 1-(6-bromo-3-methyl-3-pyridin-2-yl-2,3-dihydro-indol-1-yl)-ethanone (400 mg, 1.2 mmol) in THF (3 mL) and benzylzinc bromide (0.5 M in THF, 3.8 mL, 1.9 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 16 h and then partitioned between brine and EtOAc. The organic phase was separated, dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. Chromatography (50% EtOAc in Petrol) gave the title compound (350 mg) as a colourless gum. MS: [M+H]+=343.
