Procedure

Methyl 2-(methylthio)-3,4-dihydroquinazoline-7-carboxylate (1.30 g, 4.2 mmol) was dissolved in tBuOH (10 mL) and (2,4-dimethoxyphenyl)methanamine (2.8 g, 16.8 mmol) was added. The reaction mixture was heated at reflux overnight. After cooling, the solid was filtrated to afford methyl 2-(2,4-dimethoxybenzylamino)-3,4-dihydroquinazoline-7-carboxylate (1.0 g) as brown solid.
