To a solution of 6-chloro-2-methoxy-3-nitropyridine (300 mg, 1.591 mmol) in acetonitrile/DMF (2:1, 3 mL) was added sodium thiomethoxide (133 mg, 1.91 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 18 hours and then concentrated in vacuo. The residue was partitioned between water (30 mL) and EtOAc (30 mL). The organic layer was dried (MgSO4) and concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound (290 mg, 91%).
