Methyl 7-(2-chlorophenoxy)-1-cyano-4-hydroxyisoquinoline-3-carboxylate (20 mg, 0.06 mmol) and ethyl 3-amino-2,2-dimethylpropanoate (33 mg, 0.23 mmol) in EtOH (3 mL) were heated at 150° C. in a microwave for 1.5 hours. The solvent was removed in vacuo and the residue oil was purified by flash chromatography (0-50% EtOAc/hexanes) to give the title compound in 30 mg. 1H NMR (CDCl3, 200 MHz): δ=8.41 (d, 1H, J=8.5 Hz), 8.30 (t, 1H, J=6.6 Hz), 7.57-7.48 (m, 2H), 7.42-7.17 (m, 4H), 4.23 (q, 2H, J=7.0 Hz), 3.60 (d, 2H, J=6.6 Hz), 1.35 (t, 3H, J=7.0 Hz), 1.28 (s, 6H).
