Procedure

7-(4-Chloro-phenoxy)-1-cyano-4-hydroxy-isoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester (21 mg, 0.06 mmol) and ethyl 3-amino-2,2-dimethylpropanoate (34 mg, 0.24 mmol) in EtOH (3 mL) were heated at 150° C. in a microwave for 1.5 hours. The solvent was removed in vacuo and the residue oil was purified by flash chromatography (0-50% EtOAc/hexanes) to give the title compound in 20 mg. 1H NMR (CDCl3, 200 MHz): δ=8.41 (d, 1H, J=9.0 Hz), 8.32 (t, 1H, J=6.6 Hz), 7.60-7.39 (m, 4H), 7.12-7.06 (m, 2H), 4.24 (q, 2H, J=7.0 Hz), 3.61 (d, 2H, J=6.6 Hz), 1.37 (t, 3H, J=7.0 Hz), 1.30 (s, 6H).
