Procedure
1-Cyano-4-hydroxy-7-p-tolyloxy-isoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid butyl ester (19 mg, 0.05 mmol) and ethyl 3-amino-2,2-dimethylpropanoate (29 mg, 0.20 mmol) in EtOH (3 mL) were heated at 150° C. in a microwave for 1.5 hours. The solvent was removed in vacuo and the residue oil was purified by flash chromatography (0-50% EtOAc/hexanes) to give the title compound in 18 mg. MS: (−) m/z 446.33 (M−1).
