Methyl 4-hydroxy-7-(4-methoxybenzylamino)isoquinoline-3-carboxylate (49.0 mg, 0.14 mmol) and methyl 3-amino-2,2-dimethylpropanoate (114.0 mg, 0.87 mmol) in MeOH (3 mL) were heated at 150° C. in a microwave for 4 hours. The solvent was removed in vacuo and the residue oil was purified by flash chromatography (0-10% EtOAc/CH2Cl2) to give the title compound in 15 mg. 1H NMR (CDCl3, 200 MHz): δ=13.10 (s, 1H), 8.40-8.28 (m, 2H), 8.10 (d, 1H, J=9.0 Hz), 7.30 (d, 2H, J=6.6 Hz), 7.05 (d, 1H, J=9.0 Hz), 6.92-6.80 (m, 3H), 5.14 (s, 1H), 4.38 (s, 2H), 3.81 (s, 3H), 3.68 (s, 3H), 3.59 (d, 2H, J=6.6 Hz), 1.28 (s, 6H).
