A solution of 3.46 g (12.89 mmol) (2-chloro-5-nitro-pyrimidin-4-yl)-(4-fluoro-phenyl)-amine in 40 ml THF is hydrogenated with 2.0 g sponge-nickel as catalyst at room temperature and under atmospheric pressure. The catalyst is filtered off and the filtrate is evaporated giving 2-chloro-N4-(4-fluoro-phenyl)-pyrimidine-4,5-diamine as dark oil; HPLC/MS (B): 1.88 min, [M+H] 239.
