Reaction Steps

The title compound was prepared by following general procedure 4. 9-Chloro-3-methyl-1,2,3,4,5,6-hexahydroazepino[4,5-b]indole (100 mg, 0.85 mmol), tetra n-butyl ammonium chloride (11 mg, 0.043 mmol), 3-methyl-5-vinylpyridine (121 mg, 1.02 mmol) were taken into 50% NaOH (6 mL) and the reaction mixture was heated overnight at 90° C. The reaction was monitored by TLC. After completion of reaction, the reaction mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate and water, the organic layer was separated, dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The crude compound was purified by preparative TLC to obtain 9 mg of 9-chloro-3-methyl-6-(2-(5-methylpyridin-3-yl)ethyl)-1,2,3,4,5,6-hexahydroazepino[4,5-b]indole, isolated as its oxalate salt. 1HNMR (CD3OD, Oxalate salt) δ (ppm): 8.40 (s, 1H), 8.0 (s, 1H), 7.60 (s, 1H), 7.45 (s, 1H), 7.18 (d, 1H), 7.0 (d, 1H), 4.40 (t, 2H), 3.70 (t, 2H), 3.30 (s, 3H), 3.20 (m, 5H), 3.0 (s, 3H), 2.38 (s, 3H).
