PROCEDURE

A mixture of compound F4 (225 mg, 1.00 mmol) in formic acid (5 mL) and water (1 mL) was stirred overnight at room temperature. After that time, the reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was mixed with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate (50 mL) and extracted with methylene chloride (3×150 mL). The combined organic extracts were dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The resulting residue was purified by flash column chromatography on silica gel eluting with methanol/methylene chloride (15:85) to afford compound N1 as an off-white solid (208 mg, 82%): 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 11.44 (s, 1H), 8.40 (s, 1H), 7.52 (bs, 1H), 7.03 (bs, 1H), 3.48 (s, 2H), 2.76 (d, J=4.8 Hz, 2H), 2.65 (d, J=4.8 Hz, 2H), 2.54-2.47 (m, 2H), 1.07 (t, J=7.0 Hz, 3H). MS (M+H) 254.
