Procedure

Treatment of 3-amino-1-(3-bromo-5-methylphenyl)propan-1-ol with ethyl trifluoroacetate following the method used in Example 79 gave N-(3-(3-bromo-5-methylphenyl)-3-hydroxypropyl)-2,2,2-trifluoroacetamide as a light colored oil. Yield (0.38 g, 22%, 3 steps): 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 7.29 (s, 1H), 7.26 (s, 1H), 7.05-7.07 (m, 1H), 4.80 (dd, J=8.8, 4.0 Hz, 1H), 3.62-3.75 (m, 1H), 3.36-3.44 (m, 1H), 2.33 (s, 3H), 1.90-2.0 (m, 2H).
