tert-Butyl(1-(4-((4-(2-(2-amino-2-oxoethyl)phenethyl)-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidin-2-yl)amino)phenyl)piperidin-4-yl)carbamate (I79) (138 mg, 0.231 mmol) was dissolved in dry dichloromethane (10 mL) under an atmosphere of nitrogen. Trifluoroacetic acid (1.0 mL, 13 mmol) was added to the solution and the reaction was stirred at room temperature overnight. The volatiles were removed in vacuo, EtOAc (50 mL) and sat. aq. NaHCO3 (50 mL) were added to the residue and the layers were separated.
