Procedure
A reaction vial was charged with (S)-isopropyl 4-acetyl-7-bromo-3-methyl-3,4-dihydropyrido[2,3-b]pyrazine-1(2H)-carboxylate (0.2 M in methanol, 0.1 mL, 0.02 mmol). Sodium hydroxide (2.0 M in water, 0.050 mL, 0.10 mmol) was added and the reaction was shaken at room temperature for 6 hours. The reaction mixture was concentrated to afford (S)-isopropyl 7-bromo-3-methyl-3,4-dihydropyrido[2,3-b]pyrazine-1(2H)-carboxylate which was used in the next step without purification. MS (ESI, pos. ion) m/z 314, 316 [M+H]+.
