Reaction Steps
294 μl (1.2 eq) of hydrazine monohydrate is added to a solution of 1.63 g (5.05 mmol) of 5-iodo-6-methoxy-2-(methylsulfinyl)nicotinonitrile in 30 ml of 2-propanol. The reaction medium is stirred at 80° C. for 9 hours. After returning to room temperature, the solid formed is filtered and rinsed with 2-propanol to yield 1.14 g (78%) of 5-iodo-6-methoxy-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridin-3-amine in the form of a white powder.
