Into a 50-mL round-bottom flask, was placed a solution of 4-(1-(3-(2-(2-hydroxyethyl)-4-methyl-1H-imidazol-5-yl)-4-methylbenzoyl)piperidin-4-yl)benzonitrile (compound 23, 75 mg, 0.18 mmol) in dichloromethane (5 mL). Thionyl chloride (25 μL, 0.35 mmol) was added and the resulting solution was stirred for 3 h at room temperature. The solvents were carefully removed under reduced pressure to yield 50 mg (crude) of the title compound as a yellow solid.
