Procedure

A solution of KOH (2.6 g, 46.4 mmol) in water (50 ml) was added dropwise to a suspension of decanoic acid (8.0 g, 46.4 mmol) in water (300 ml) at 60 ° C. until pH 7. Water was removed by lyophilization. Yield: 9.28 g (95%).
