Using methodology described in Example 1, 4-(2,2-dimethylpropyl)-1-[4-(2-trimethylsilylethynyl)phenyl]-2,6,7-trioxabicyclo[2,2,2]octane was prepared from 4-(2,2-dimethyl-propyl)-1-(4-iodophenyl)-2,6,7-trioxabicyclo[2,2,2]octane and trimethylsilylacetylene.
