Procedure
2.22 g (0.02 mol) of 5-amino-1,3-dimethylpyrazole and 5.3 g (0.02 mol) of ethyl 2-(4'-fluorobenzylidene)-4-methyl-3-oxo-pentanoate were mixed and heated at about 130° C. for one hour. Substances having a low boiling point were distilled off under reduced pressure by a rotary evaporator. Then, the reaction mixture was dissolved in chloroform, washed with a sodium carbonate aqueous solution and with water and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. Chloroform was evaporated, and the residual oil was purified by silica gel column chromatography to obtain dihydropyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine (XI 1).
