Procedure

4-Oxo-1-(1-phenyl-cyclopentylmethyl)-1,4-dihydro-[1,5]naphthyridine-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (9) (140 mg, 49.46%) was synthesized as a sticky liquid from 200 mg of 3-dimethylamino-2-(3-fluoro-pyridine-2-carbonyl)-acrylic acid ethyl ester (4) following the procedure described for 1-biphenyl-2-ylmethyl-4-oxo-1,4-dihydro-[1,5]naphthyridine-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (6).
