Reaction Steps

A mixture of 1-Benzyl-4-methyl-4-phenyl-3,4-dihydro-1H-quinazolin-2-one (1.0 g, 2.8 mmol) in DMF (800 mL) is cooled to 0° C., then NaH (0.134 g, 3.35 mmol) is added. After the addition the mixture is stirred at 0° C. for 0.5 h. Then CH3I (0.79 g, 5.6 mmol) is added and the mixture is stirred at r.t. overnight. Then the mixture is poured into NH4Cl (30 mL) and is extracted with EtOAc, dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated to give product. This is used in the next step without further purification.
