Reaction Steps

To a solution of 3,4-Dimethyl-4-phenyl-3,4-dihydro-1H-quinazolin-2-one (0.4 g, 1.59 mmol) in DCM (5 mL) is added NBS (0.28 g, 1.59 mmol). After the addition the mixture is stirred at room temperature overnight. The mixture is diluted with DCM, washed with H2O, dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated. The residue is purified by chromatography on silica gel to give product.
