3-Chloropropyl chloroformate (133 μL, 1.089 mmol) was added to a mixture of 4-{5-[2-amino-7-methyl-8-(3-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-[1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]pyridin-6-yl]-pyrazol-1-yl}-benzonitrile (Ex. 1, 100 mg, 0.218 mmol) and pyridine (107 μL, 1.308 mmol) in THF (3 mL) and the mixture was stirred rapidly for 20 mins at RT then heated at 60° C. 20 mins using microwave irradiation. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound (125 mg of impure product contains chloroformate).
